People Helping People

We often hear that it takes a village to raise a child. While that is certainly true, the care and concern of a community does not end with adolescence. In the North Country we care about our neighbors. While this may not always be evident in visible displays of affection, it is certainly a strong characteristic of our communities in times of crises. At different points in our life journey we are part of that helping community. At other times in our journey we need support and assistance. The community can and does want to assist you on your journey.

News from Help Littleton.

Operation Frontline, the NH Food Bank (a project of NH Catholic Charities) and the Nutrition Connections Program of the NH Cooperative Extension Service are teaming up to offer "Eating Right" a free cooking class and nutrition education program.

The six week course is designed primarily for families and will include nutrition information and a hands on cooking class taught by a local chef. Each week, participants will prepare and eat a healthy meal made from low cost, high nutrition ingredients.

Participants will also receive a weekly grocery package that will enable them to prepare the same meal at home.

Classes begin June 19. For details and/or to register contact: Heather Carter at (603) 788-4961 or (603) 412-7111 or Tony Poekert at (603) 444-7727 or tpoekert@nh-cc.org

While most agencies and organizations try to reach out, they may not be aware of your circumstances. There is no shame or blame about needing help. During one's life journey all need help in some form or another. This website has been prepared to help individuals, their families and friends, care providers and volunteers to identify resources that may be useful, helpful and supportive in times of need.

HelpLittleton has been designed to provide information on and access to those agencies and organizations providing a wide range of services and supports to persons in need, human service providers, educators, clergy, volunteers and anyone interested in making life a little bit better for themselves or others.
